Take a Trip With Us - High School

Biking beneath crashing waterfalls and glacier capped volcanoes; whitewater rafting through the Amazon Jungle; hiking through mystical cloud forests; snorkeling with sea turtles and hammerhead sharks— sound like fun? If you are a high school student interested in taking a trip with PEDAL for Change, the first step is to CONTACT US. Don’t be shy, just click HERE and send us a message telling us about yourself—you school, where you’re from, interests, etc. We will walk you through the process of planning a trip with us step by step once you contact us, but it will generally go something like this:

You contact us and say “hey, take me on a mind-blowing adventure in Ecuador!”

We respond saying “Yeah kid! Let’s do it!”

From there we will figure out whether your school already has an international travel or experiential education program or not. If they do, then it’s just a matter of PEDAL contacting your school administrators to tell them about our program and how awesome PEDAL for Change is. From there we will work with your school (and you) to plan a trip. If your school doesn’t have an existing travel program in place, do not fear! We will still contact your school (you can help us figure out who the best person to contact it— principal, teacher, etc. ) and tell them all about PEDAL for Change and the types of trips we offer. We can also organize an adventure for a group of students outside of schools. If you have a group of friends interested, we can make it happen!

Here are some things you’re probably wondering about….

What is the minimum # of students you need to recruit to make a group trip happen?

Well, there is no minimum, or maximum; HOWEVER the more students in the group, the lower the cost will be generally speaking. So, if you have a group of 6 students, that’s fine, we can still take a trip, but it would be a lot cheaper if you had a group of 12.

Speaking of costs…I’m sure you’re dying to know how much a PEDAL adventure costs…

Unfortunately, trip costs depend on a lot of variables that we can’t know until we start planning a trip with a group (length of trip, destinations, activities, number of students, etc), so we can’t give you a real answer to that question. We can tell you that the team at PEDAL is dedicated to giving students the opportunity to experience Ecuador and have the adventure of a lifetime, regardless of economic status. We are more than happy to work with individual students and groups to make sure that they have the funding needed to take a trip.

How long do PEDAL trips last?

PEDAL for Change trips can last anywhere from a week to 3 months or more—it totally depends on the group. We recommend spending at least 10 days in Ecuador so that you can experience more than one of the regions and communities here, but we can arrange for trips of any duration.

How much time do we need to plan a trip?

That depends mostly on the school/group and their funding situation. PEDAL can put together a trip within a couple of weeks, depending on availability; but students and parents/administrators generally need at least 4 months to plan, fundraise, and get everything organized. We can also plan trips more than a year in advance—all depending on the needs of the group.
