University - Alternative Vacations

Service, sustainability, and community development are at the heart of PEDAL for Change’s mission. We are very excited to offer Alternative Vacations for University students looking to do more with their vacation time than just relax on a beach. We facilitate trips for students who are interested in living, learning, and working with local indigenous communities throughout Ecuador. Alternative Vacations last between 1 and 2 weeks and have a heavier work element than other PEDAL itineraries—but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of fun to be had. While the focus of the trip is service projects that serve local communities, PEDAL Alternative Vacations still have plenty of adventure packed into them. When you’re not building lifelong relationships with locals, you will be whitewater rafting, rock climbing, biking, snorkeling, and hiking your way through some of the world’s most spectacular and biodiverse environments. Plus, you get to relax after a job well done in spectacular volcanic hot springs—well worth the trip.

If you are interested in planning an Alternative Vacation with PEDAL for Change, or know of a student group, team, or organization that may be interested, please CONTACT US. With at least a couple months notice, we can plan the trip of a lifetime that involves not just visiting some of the best destinations in the world, but giving back to them.
