In Short…
PEDAL: People for Environment, Diversity, Action, and Learning is a non-profit organization created to help students across the United States experience the world outside what they see everyday. This will be achieved by taking students on a journey through South America where we will learn together about creating a global community that lives more sustainably. On September 8th, 2010 3 members of PEDAL for Change will begin the first movement: Cycling South America for Environmental Action.
The project includes a 3,600 mile cycle journey from Ecuador to Patagonia, several volunteer service projects, partnerships with United States middle and high school classrooms, joining these classrooms' curriculums, and collaborating with students on volunteer and service projects within their local communities. We will travel through South America acting as a feed for US students, helping them gain a global perspective on environmental issues around the world. We hope to instill a desire for environmental action in students of the US.
The larger goal of PEDAL for Change is to create an AFFORDABLE abroad program that will allow ANY STUDENT to come along on this journey and become the leaders of tomorrow's PEDAL! ...click here to read more
